Hello FSA Members,
We’re all busy; won’t things work out for the best?
Not so fast. There are good reasons why physicians need to actively engage with their legislators.
Our Experience. Our frontline experience equips us with invaluable insight into the real-world implications of healthcare policy. Sharing our expertise is our way to educate our lawmakers, helping them craft informed, effective legislation addressing the genuine needs of patients and healthcare providers alike. Moreover, physician involvement adds a human element to the legislative process, reminding policymakers of the individuals directly affected by their decisions. Personal connections with your state legislators will foster compassion and a deeper understanding of the issues at hand.
Our Knowledge. We are uniquely positioned to advocate for evidence-based approaches to healthcare policy. With our deep understanding of medical science and research, we can help ensure that legislative proposals are grounded in empirical evidence and prioritize the well-being of patients. By lending our expertise, we can help steer lawmakers away from potentially harmful or ineffective policies, ultimately improving the quality and efficacy of healthcare delivery.
Our Career. Engaging with legislators allows us to advocate for our profession and address systemic challenges facing the healthcare system. Whether advocating for fair reimbursement rates, reducing administrative burdens, or addressing workforce shortages, we can use our influence to shape policies that support a sustainable and thriving healthcare ecosystem.
Yes, we are busy, but we can’t trust that things will work out for the best. Patient care doesn’t end at the doors of the OR, the hospital, or the clinic – it continues to Tallahassee and D.C. We are simply too valuable to our community to sit idly by as troublesome legislative issues emerge. Please, appreciate that your engagement with state and national legislators is essential in shaping effective, evidence-based healthcare policy, advocating for the needs of patients and providers, addressing systemic challenges, and safeguarding the integrity of the medical profession.
Your active participation in the legislative process is imperative if we want to remain on the forefront of positive change, and I’m looking forward to working alongside of you to make a difference.
Please, stay involved; if you are considering getting involved, it’s never been easier.
